Elizabeth grew up in Northeastern Wisconsin and has been working in democratic politics since 2010. She is thrilled to be part of the AOTL team and fighting for fair maps in Wisconsin!

What does All On The Line mean to you?

To me, All On The Line represents the fight for fairness in our democracy. Wisconsin has been an epicenter for unfair gerrymandering — we’ve seen time and again voters vote one way, and representation go the other. It’s undemocratic and unfair, and it has led to countless laws enacted in this state that frankly don’t represent Wisconsinites. This campaign is fighting to change that and to ensure that elected officials be held accountable for their actions and inaction.

Why are you fighting for Fair Maps?

I’m fighting for fair maps because despite what we have seen over the last decade in our state with gerrymandering, voter suppression, poor leadership, and failed policies, Wisconsinites deserve to pick their elected officials — not the other way around. It’s that simple, yet this fight isn’t easy. There are a lot of people in this state who want to maintain the broken status quo, but not me.

Why should people get involved with All On The Line?

This last April, I had to go vote in-person, during the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. I had to risk my health to vote. And the fact that I — and far too many others — had to make this choice between the right to vote and health and safety is because our gerrymandered legislature refused to see that we needed safer voting policies. They fought our Governor — even suing him to force an election that wasn’t safe or healthy.

This is just one of the ways that Wisconsinites have been denied their basic rights — whether it be their right to vote, the right to stay healthy, the right to an economy that works for them.

People should get involved because we deserve an elected body that listens to us — not to corporate donors, special interests or extreme factions of political parties. People should get involved with All On The Line because redistricting is right around the corner. The work to ensure we have truly fair maps in 2021 starts now.

Which district in your state is the wackiest?

All of them. Wisconsin is one of the most gerrymandered states in the country.
